The Raiffeisen principle
Sustainable even
before there was a
word for it
125 years
Tyrol’s Raiffeisen banks gathered to celebrate their
125 years of existence with a family party and
ceremony held in Ötz, the town where Tyrol’s
first-ever Raiffeisen bank opened its doors in 1888.
The festivities, which began with a traditional
local reception, were attended by well-wishers who
gathered from far and wide to congratulate Tyrol’s
largest banking group. Among the guests were
the governor of Tyrol Günther Platter, Raiffeisen’s
CEO Dr Walter Rothensteiner, numerous directors
and senior managers of Tyrolean Raiffeisen banks,
Tyrolean member of state parliament
(Landesrat)
Mag Johannes Tratter, president of the Tyrolean
chamber of agriculture
(Landwirtschaftskammer)
Josef Hechenberger, director of the farmers’
association
(Bauernbund)
Dr Peter Raggl, Caritas
director Georg Schärmer and many others.
After a ceremony including Sunday prayers,
the festivities got well and truly under way with
morning drinks and a family party for all in the
town centre.
Another highlight was an autograph session by
Austrian skiing star and public favourite Marcel
Hirscher, who visited Ötz specially for the occasion.
